“DISASTER MANAGEMENT” SYLLABUS FOR ALL COMPETITIVE EXAMS
The term “Disaster” is derived from the French word “désastre”, a combination of two words: “des” meaning “bad” and “aster” meaning “star”. The term refers to “Bad or Evil”. Two types of disasters (Natural and Man-made) lead to sudden disruptions of normal life, severe damage to life, property, the environment, and the economy, and affect a community that can’t handle them alone.
